Ipswich Round 6
7 September 2024
Introduction
My name is Scarlett and I am a nine year old girl who lives in Queensland. I am doing go-karting because my Grandma and Grandpa passed away and I was annoying Mum so much that Dad took me out to the track and it looked like a fun thing to do.
I am writing this this because I want to share my experience of go-karting with people who are on a similar journey.
Heat One
As I was sitting on the grid I felt a little worried, but as I started my kart and went out for the warm up lap I started feeling excited. My start was OK and I made an excellent pass on the last lap and I was so proud.
Sadly I was disqualified because my transponder wasn’t on as the cables fell out so it couldn’t transmit my times.
Heat Two
We managed to fix the problem with the transponder and cracked a couple of good lap times.
My engine sounded a tad out of tune at the end of the heat. As I came in my tyres were all gummed up at the rear.
We made a change to the kart and we leaned out the carby and I thought it was a very fun round and it improved my lap times and I was very happy.
Heat Three
The engine was still sounding bad and the kart was playing up. So we went leaner wtih the mixture. I was feeling so happy when I found out that my first laps were improving.
Heat Four
I had a great start and I kept up wtih the group for three to four laps! My engine was not running properly.
Summary
That is the best I’ve raced but I think I need to put my bum in seat and come out to the track with some fast times. I was amazed with how I raced.
I would like to thank my Dad and my awesome neighbour for encouraging me and supporting me. Thank you all the competitors.
